One of the blessings that Lydia has during this year in the States is participating in the marching band of her high school. Last evening they gave their first public performance after a long week of band camp. It is amazing what they have pulled together in just a week of working together! Like Here’s Stephen’s contribution to sharing our kids’ recent experience at the MK Transition retreat: As my sister has already done a great job summarizing the events and sessions from the seminar, I’ll just write for you all what I got out of the two weeks. For me, one of the biggest things to come out of [...] I’ve invited Stephen and Lydia to share something from their experience at the MK (Missionary Kid) retreat that they attended during the last two weeks of July. We’ll post Stephen’s Story in the next couple of days… sd I wish I could say it feels good to be “home” after being two weeks [...] Well, we’ve officially been back in the States for 6 weeks. To be honest, emotionally it still feels like we have our “contacts in the wrong eyes”…see Scott’s blog on June 27. We know HOW to do everything, and the language is no problem, generally. One day I offended someone by using the word “toilet” [...] It’s been rather quiet on our blog. We haven’t forgotten…we’ve just been a bit preoccupied. Turns out it is quite a big task to shut down life in one country, move a family of 4 (plus one dog) 5000 miles, across an ocean, and restart a life in one’s country of origin. That’s what we’ve [...] May 31, 2010 February, 2006 On February 20, 2006 we wrote in this blog (“blog” was a new word then) about purchasing our first ministry vehicle, a 2003 Opel Zafira. It had 75,000 kilometers (46,875 miles) on it then. Today when I handed over the keys to the new owner it had almost 237,000 kilometers [...] Last Fall Stephen was invited to join the junior team of a local club rugby team, and he has really enjoyed it. Yesterday he played in the final game of their current Spring tournament. Unfortunately his team lost, but Stephen did come home with a “trophy” of sorts…his first concussion! Rugby here is every bit [...] It’s been a busy weekend for our family. Paula left Thursday afternoon for a weekend with friends in England. I returned home Thursday night from a conference. Saturday was May 1st and the official May Day holiday; for our readers in the USA, May Day is equivalent to our Labor Day holiday in early September. [...] I’m just back from some time off. Two years ago a ministry colleague invited me to come to northwest England to help a sheep-farmer friend with the lambing season. It turned out to be a really great experience (if you like sheep like I do), and this year I had the opportunity to return for [...] Two weeks ago now, after returning home from visiting another church here in Arad, I discovered that I was missing an earring. Now, this earring was part of a set that a really good friend had given me for Christmas this year. I don’t imagine it was terribly expensive in monetary value..although I don’t know [...] |
